What is Karndean Wooden flooring?

Karndean Flooring, also known as Karndean Designflooring, is a luxury vinyl flooring (LVT) brand that produces realistic wood and stone. Karndean is one of the biggest names in the industry and is so respected that it’s often mistaken as a type of floor itself, rather than a brand. Karndean Designflooring is fabricated planks or tiles that enable you to bring the beauty of natural flooring to your home without the hassle that comes with it. It delivers the individuality of real wood flooring, the shine of marble and the subtle texture of limestone and slate, but is much easier to install and maintain.

Benefits of Karndean Wooden Flooring

All of their ranges are created with the highest standard of materials with decades of technical knowledge behind each tile and plank. Karndean understands that the most important part of any floor is the wear layer and quality. All Karndean luxury vinyl flooring is built to a high standard, scratch-resistant, waterproof, and long-lasting.

One of the benefits of Karndean flooring is that they have a huge range of designs with the look and feel of the textures of wood and stone. They have many solutions for any room, no matter your style or budget. The personalisation of your floor can go even further with a great range of Karndean Design Strips.  These are strips which go between the tiles to look like grouting that you can mix and match for the perfect combination.

What’s the difference between Karndean and laminate?

Karndean Designflooring is more versatile and practical than laminate flooring for numerous reasons. Karndean is quieter than laminate underfoot, and much warmer, too! This is because it is made from a soft and malleable vinyl composition rather than laminate’s rigid fibreboard. Karndean flooring is not easily damaged and will last longer in both busy homes and commercial areas. Laminate flooring is not very resilient when it comes to spills and leaks and are susceptible to chipping and cracking. Put it this way – if you have children or a dog you absolutely need this type of floor!

The main difference between laminate and Karndean flooring is their reaction to different environments. Laminate flooring reacts to moisture and changes in temperature as water is absorbed by laminate and causes the planks to warp and the top layer to curl as they dry out. Heat and cold will also cause problems in that a laminate floor will naturally expand in the heat of the summer, causing buckling, and contract in the winter, causing splitting. Karndean Flooring withstands surface water without damage and withstands changes in temperature so it can be used all over the home.

Light wood

A pale wood design floor will let light into and around the room, helping to make a small room look larger and creating a bright feel all year round. A light wood floor will add natural warmth and texture to airy interiors in shades of white, harmonious pale greys, pastels or earthy shades. Styles such as minimalism, Scandi, coastal grandmother or shabby chic will all look amazing with a fresh limewashed or sun-bleached floor.

Dark wood designs

Dark wood floors are an excellent way to bring in rich, deep tones. In a modern farmhouse or industrial-style home with neutral walls and fresh white linens, the warm tones and timeless elegance of a dark wood floor will add depth and contrast. It’s also the ideal partner for vintage or antique furniture.

If you love the cottagecore look, a floor with deep wooden character will blend well with a nature-inspired colour scheme and treasured vintage florals. With borders and design strips as well as a choice of laying patterns such as herringbone, it’s easy to add individuality for the perfect finish to your room, no matter your style.
