How does the virtual kitchen design service work?
If you’ve ever worked with us before, you’ll know that every Modern Homes design starts with a completely free discovery session, and our virtual service is no different.
It’s actually much more convenient, because you don’t have to leave your home! The great thing about this service is that you can work with us on your new kitchen or bathroom from the comfort of your sofa.
During the initial chat, you’ll get the chance to tell us exactly what you want and ask any questions you may have about the new design. You’ve got us for as long as you need us, so make the most of it!
This session can be undertaken over the phone, via email, or both – it’s entirely up to you. We’re even ‘modern’ enough to chat via Zoom, WhatsApp, or FaceTime! There are, however, a few things you’ll need to do to ensure you get the most from the time you spend with us virtually.
Your virtual home design checklist
There are just a couple of really simple things you’ll need to do.
All you need is a tape measure and your smartphone. With those two things in hand, here’s what we need from you:
- measurements of the room (we’ve got a great guide for measuring correctly, here);
- current photos of the room as it is.
That’s it! Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, we can turn your photos and drawings into a fully rendered, to-scale 3D design of your new space. And that’s where things get really gets exciting.
How to decide what you need from your new room
Whether you want to design a new bathroom or kitchen, we have the tools and know-how needed to make it a success, but it’s important you fully consider all of your needs and wants.
The best way to do this is to brainstorm with the rest of your family. Start by listing all of the things you absolutely need from the new space and create a separate list for the things you want.
It’s then simply a case of elimination, based on your budget. To do this effectively, interview both yourself and your family; what does everyone want, and what elements of the new design are people willing to forgo?
It’s important to think about how the room flows, too. For instance, if it’s a kitchen, think about how it’ll be used over time. Where are people likely to spend the lion’s share of their time, and what walkways are going to be used most often?
The more you brainstorm now, the more we can put those ideas into a living, breathing realisation of the finished room.
