We transformed an outdated, cluttered kitchen into a modern social space for Mrs. Rain that has become the heart of the home. Mrs. Rain was frustrated with a separate lounge and small kitchen and asked us to create a design that would merge the two rooms and create a large open plan kitchen with room for dining and living.
With a wall removed we were able to make substantial changes, introducing a large bank of units and a run of tall housing incorporating a coffee machine, combi microwave, built in double oven and integrated fridge freezer. This kept all of the appliances in one work area and provided a good selection of modern tools to use for cooking
We focused on internal storage in order to keep the work surfaces clear and maintain the sleek look to the design that Mrs. Rain desired. We included internal bin units, large pan draws with Blum internal organisers, a magic corner and carousel in the corner units, which also made access much more practical.
The use of a hot tap, modern closed door grilling, induction hob, undermount sink and recessed drainer area also meant the worktops remained clutter free and offered ample preparation and serving areas.
We were also able to create a utility room elsewhere in the house for a combination washing machine and tumble dryer which opened up even more space in the kitchen.
Silestone worktops, window cill & upstands used in conjunction with glass splash backs eliminated a previous issue of hard to maintain worktops and offered ease of cleaning surfaces with a wow factor to them. Contrasting modern wooden wall units were selected to complement existing dining furniture and help to tie the room together. A feature colour was added with a purple splashback, blinds, feature, wallpaper, dining chairs, stools and various accessories.
Mrs. Rain is delighted with the finished design and how it has transformed not just the kitchen but the way the whole of the downstairs of the house is used and enjoyed.
